I’m OK You’re OK
By Bob DeMarco Alzheimer’s Reading Room I’ll start by saying — Thank You. I’m OK. It appears that this mornings post — Help — sent out a message that was very different than I had intended. I knew something was up when I noticed that 100 people flew on to the website in 19 minutes. At first I thought, wow, someone big must have written about the Alzheimer’s Reading Room. When I looked at the “referrals” I immediately noticed that it was subscribers coming in. 100 people in 19 minutes is a big number for a Sunday morning. It didn’t take long before I realized that many people saw the headline and assumed I was calling for help — personally. Oops, sorry about that. If you have been here for a while you might remember that I often used music (poems) to make a point. I usually do that on Sunday. Granted, I have not done that in a while. I had an entirely different idea in mind when I put that up. It does not surprise me that people would get worried about me. After all, I am made of flesh and blood just like every other Alzheimer’s caregiver. Forty percent of Alzheimer’s caregivers end up suffering from depression. The large fraction tells me that this is something I should pay attention too. I constantly ask myself, how am I doing? I try to assess if I am getting negative or in any way lethargic
