Senator Debbie Stabenow –Michigan– Supports Alzheimer’s Legislation and Funding

Senator Debbie Stabenow Michigan Supports Alzheimers Legislation and Funding
Thank you . . . . . . for contacting me to support funding for Alzheimer’s disease research. I share your support for increased federal resources to fight this devastating disease. That is why I have requested that the Senate Appropriations Committee support a significant investment in Older Americans Act programs that include Alzheimer’s disease research grants to states. In addition, this year’s budget includes a $443 million increase in funding for the National Institutes of (NIH), which will help continue many vital Alzheimer’s research programs. As a member of the Alzheimer’s Task Force, I have been a long-time advocate for research. I believe that increased medical research funding is one of the most beneficial investments our country can make. As a member of the House of Representatives and now as a Senator, I have supported NIH budget increases, and Congress has nearly doubled the NIH budget over the last five years. I will continue to strongly support measures that would increase the NIH research budget and research for Alzheimer’s disease. Thank you for sharing your views with me. Please do not hesitate to do so again, whenever I can be of assistance to you. Sincerely, Debbie Stabenow United States Senator This email was received by Angil Tarach in response to her email asking Senator Debbie Stabenow to support Alzheimer’s legislation.
